We're here to help

Last Tuesday, I was pretty right on when I said, "And so it begins..."
As the world now knows, on Friday, the city of Boston and it's direct suburbs were basically under martial law. Let's not kid ourselves about semantics, because that's what it was. You were not allowed outside your home, you were not allowed on the street, police could search your home without a warrant (at gun point in some cases), police were patrolling the streets with "assault rifles"... actually, let me clarify that, assault rifles, because there was no use of the term "so called" here; these were the real deal, military style rifles, a vast majority with select fire or short barreled, meant strictly for offense. And the people of Boston complied and cheered.

Fucking sheep.

2 animals blew up a bomb, killed three, injured hundreds and the city goes into lock down. Yet for 30 years or more, the "Irish Mob" killed more people than that on a Saturday every week and they did as they pleased. That's a Thursday night in Chicago nowadays and people sigh. Hourly, our soldiers are ordered to do this overseas as well as are victims of this and people want to watch "Dancing With The Stars".

I'd say I want to move away from this insanity, but I don't have the money or speak the language anywhere else to move there.

People are getting into heated arguments over the actions taken by government Friday. So many people think it was wonderful and The Book Of Face was littered with all these "Go Boston!" items praising the police actions. The "2013 Hide & Seek Champions", et al... Of course, it was a home owner who, when "allowed" to go outside, saw something weird with his boat and low and behold, douchenozzle was in there.
"They had to do something!"
"It was just one day. What's the big deal?"
"He was a terrorist and we had to use every means necessary to find him!"
"I didn't do anything wrong, so I didn't have anything to worry about."
"If this happened in your city, you'd want the same thing to happen!" - Oh that one's rich.
And it's cousin I saw on a YouTube video: "If he was in your house, holding your family hostage, you'd want the police to search and wouldn't care about a warrant."
Really, fuckstick? No, I wouldn't because the asshole would be dead in the doorframe with 2+ .40S&W hollow point rounds in his torso. I'd be calling the police over to get him out before the flies started swarming.
And then, in the process of detaining this US citizen, he wasn't read his rights, which could mean he walks on a technicality. The RINO's charged and demanded he be held as an "enemy combatant". People shrugged and said, "He's a terrorist. Too bad." "This is a war on terror and the battlefield is everywhere."
Oceania is at war with Eurasia, Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia

Yesterday, Prince Michael of Nanytown declared that the Constitution needs to be reinterpreted. Last week, the CISPA bill passed the US House, sneaking under the flood of news reports about the Boston bombing. After the people control bills failed in the Senate, King Barry I stomped his feet in the Rose Garden and proclaimed that he'd use executive orders to get his way.

There's a few old statements that are becoming more and more true.
"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you."
"It may seem like a conspiracy, but that doesn't mean it's not happening."
"Those who give up liberty for security will get and deserve neither."
Paraphrased that last one.

I don't believe this was a "False Flag" or these guys were setup or this was CIA mind control or any of that other shit. I believe these were two wackjobs who believe the murderous tenants of radical Islamists and thought they were doing their part of the holy jihad. But just like Columbine, Virginia Tech, Tuscon, Aurora, Sandy Hook or going back to the Roaring 20's, when government sees the opportunity to control the populace due to the violence created by a minute set of individuals, they're going to do it. Our founders warned the newly free people of this and we didn't listen.
"Power, once granted, will be used."

The paint is peeling off the walls.

And so it begins...

The third person wasn't dead yet and already the Progressives were blaming "right wing extremists" on the Boston Marathon bombing. And the tin-foil hat crowd were already calling this a "False Flag" and it was a staged bombing by the .GOV black ops groups.
I had been working on another post but obviously the actions from yesterday sort of change your mindset and priority.

We knew this would happen. Sorry, but no matter where you are, evil people exist and commit horrendous acts and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. Even in the most extreme of police states, acts like this happen.
Could it be a "right-wing extremist"? Yes
Could it be a government operation? Yes
Could it be a religious extremist of the Muslim persuasion? Yes
Could it be a local gang member with a beef? Yes
Could it be a narco-syndicate trying to terrorize the people of Boston? Yes
Could it be a 80 year old who hated the world and wanted to go out with other people? Yes
Could it be a sociopath who "...just wanted to watch the world burn"? Yes
Because we don't know anything, it is 100% speculation right now. BUT... that doesn't mean the ramifications of this won't be deep and wide.
Last night, Rep Peter King already made calls for spending on surveillance and intelligence gathering.
The White House said that security needs to be increased.
The DHS is already being seen in more and more cities and this will increase their presence and intrusion.

Life in a free country is difficult and painful. People will die from the hatred and ignorance of others. People will die from their own stupidity. Companies will fail, causing widespread suffering to many people, possible around the world. But to turn to government for the answers to these issues has never ended well.

Last night, as with all night, I prayed to HaShem (Hebrew for "The Name" - a way that Jews refer to The Sovereign without calling Him by name. In the South, there is a respect for elders that's still generally being taught and because you don't know these people personally, you call them "Mr./Miss First Name". Consider HaShem to be the same respect to Him). I felt a pain rise up in me because we've taken this wonderful creation He's given us and made a mess of it. We've taken the freest country on Earth, never before seen, created by men who believed they were following His guidance, and brought it right back around to be just like the rest of the world, which means it'll suck ass. And as tears formed in my eyes, asking Him to be with those who were directly hurt by this despicable act, I also asked Him to have mercy on us for our ignorance.

JPFP: Why Jews Hate Guns

And excellent piece by Rabbi Dovid Bendory at the Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership.
It’s no secret that one of the largest blocs of people pressing for so-called “gun control” is the culturally (aka not-so-religious) American Jewish community. This confounds many observers who would expect that Jews, with such a stunning history of oppression and murder by humanity’s villains, would cling tenaciously to personal firearms and the ability to protect themselves as the Hebrew Scriptures instruct.
In reaction to the Holocaust, American Jews adopted the phrase “Never Again!” If actions mean anything, they don’t believe it. That’s for someone else to do. How do Jews expect to put teeth behind the words “Never Again!” if not with the ability to apply and project personal force when righteous -- and necessary -- for survival?
Why then do so many American Jews hate guns and fear gun ownership so much?
Our research identifies ten reasons why these Jews feel the way they do about self defense in general, firearms specifically and your own right to keep and bear arms.

More crap from the brainless

Back in early January, I posted some thoughts on what I was hearing come out of the mouths of the intellectually challenged in regards to guns.
Since then, we've been treated to more craptastic nuggets of wisdom from the people who believe we're little children and need to be told what to do. Here are some that bring the line to my head "Are you that fucking stupid?"

"40% of all gun sales were made without a background check"
King Barry I uses this line everywhere. You now here it from the bed wetters when they call into talk shows so it's "gone viral." The problem is, it's founded in ancient data that is incredibly flawed. Now, if by some miracle of polling (see the next one for my thoughts on polling), this was accurate, then the number of gun sales since King Barry I first coronation in 2009 is approximately 98,407,468. Over 28 million of which would be without a background check. In 4 years, 28 million guns changed hands in the US without a background check. I don't care which side of the spectrum you fall on, using simple logic, that doesn't even sound right.
I want to say this carefully and clearly, so bear with me.
I don't necessarily have a problem with the concept of a background check system. I don't want violent criminals, the criminally insane, Progressives (kidding, but not), or foreign nationals bent on my demise to be able to acquire the tools easily. They're going to do it if they really want you dead, so don't kid yourself, but I'd like it to be harder for them. I'd also like my penis to be 10" and get hard in a flash, but it's not going to happen so you see where liking things gets me. I think you get the idea.
But the issue with this system is multifaceted:
First it requires the compiling of these records. Who stores them? How accurate are they? Are they reviewed regularly?
Second - With so many things qualifying as a felon that are non-violent (mainly drug charges, but there are others),  what classifies one as "Violent felon"?
Third - Who gets to use this system? If I were personally selling a gun to someone I didn't know all that well (friend of a friend), could I just call up and check this person out? If not, why not?
Fourth - How long are the records for the check itself retained? Are they flushed immediately after? Kept a week, month, year? Who keeps them honest for flushing the information?
Fifth - How else can these records (on both sides) be used?
When you start going down this road, you start risking impeding on the Natural rights of people and that's where you fuck things up. Governments have proven themselves time and again to be less than trustworthy when it comes to the privacy of their citizens. Could this be done by a private business?
Like the majority of things in this country, the sale and transfer of guns should be left to the people and the states, respectively, to determine what is and isn't proper FOR THEM. If Connecticut wants to ban guns, fine. Fuck Connecticut, I won't live there. If you live there and this idea bothers you, leave. You're not a slave to anyone, control your life. If NC wants to do it, then I have a serious problem and will fight tooth and nail to change that.

"Polls show that the number of people owning guns is decreasing."
Polls suck. If I'm called by polling places 100 times a year, I maybe participate in 3 just for shits and giggles. As ya'll know, polls are only as good as the questions they ask or the data source. On top of that, unless you're asking a vast majority of the population, then your sample size is for shit. 2,000 people in a country of 300,000,000 is statistically 0.
On top of this, if someone I don't know asks me if I own guns on the phone, the answer is "No". I'm writing a blog where I'm telling the world I own guns and if someone calls on the phone and asks, I'm telling them to fry ice. So poll numbers don't mean jack.
If the numbers reported by the story up top are true, then over 70 million guns were sold in the US in the last 5 years and remember, this doesn't include sales where a background check call are not legally required by an FFL (In NC, concealed carry holders don't get checked because we're already went through a separate federal check to get the CCW permit). Let's be kind and say 10 million were multiple gun sales to the same person. 60 million people bought guns since the coronation of King Barry I. How many had guns before? How many are new buyers?
The numbers are deceptive and skewed, but if you tell a lie long enough, it becomes the truth, eh?

You hear this one from the people who have tried all other arguments and are grasping at straws:
"Connecticut, New York, Maryland... they all get it right. But then people just go to Virginia or North Carolina or Arizona or Florida and buy guns and bring them back."
So they're violating the law by bring guns into states where they're illegal? They're criminals, right? Okay Sparky, I'll bite...
They're going to get a fake ID that has a clear background within the state they're purchasing, they're going to stand in front of the video cameras that are pointed at every gun counter in every store that sells them, they're going to fill out the 4473 form, wait for a check to be run, then cough up the hundreds of dollars to buy said gun from the store. They're going to do all that to bring the gun BACK into a state where that gun is illegal and kill someone on the street with it. Right... Hey, I have some great property in Southern Florida you need to look at. Water... front property.
Do straw purchases happen? Yup. Do some people lie on the 4473 form? Yup. Take all guns away from "civilians" and that'll solve the problem, right? Nope.
Cops have guns. The military has guns. Theft gets these criminals what they want all the time. They have no problem killing people to get what they want. Do you think they're going to give a shit about a fence? Or the life of a cop? Drug money buys people what they want. Time is on their side because we're defenseless. Gang member with a fake ID joins the military, gets through boot, gets stationed on a US base, kills the armorer, rips off the armory and viola, street gang gets military grade ordinance. Obviously complex, but like I said, time is on their side.
England and Australia are island nations. They all but banned guns and surprisingly, criminals get guns. We have a land border with an all but narco-terrorist nation that mules tons of drugs across our border weekly. Do you think it'll be a stretch for them to move guns across that border? There'd be a black market for them and guess who'd buy them?

As all these state laws go into effect, the tide is turning against the Statists. At least in word. People are getting tired of the crap. And it does look like Magpul will leave Colorado. Beretta has "threatened" to leave Maryland, as have some with Connecticut. Until these actions happen, until the large companies like Sturm Ruger, Colt, Mossberg, or Beretta actually pick up and leave a Statist run state, then it's all talk. But it's nice to hear it.

guns, Guns, GUNS!

That get your attention?

A lot of points have been made or brought up recently and I'd like to condense a few of them that I heard that I agree with.

"Why do I need an AR-15 or AK-47?"
I dunno, why do you need the car you're driving or the shoes you're wearing or the hamburger you're eating or the computer you're viewing this on? Why is that question never asked? It's a choice, isn't it, and a free person has the G-d given right to make the choices they see fit, as long as those choices don't interfere with the rights and choices of others. At least not intentionally. My guns, unless I am threatened, will never be used against another human being. In their current state, they are not a threat to anyone. Unless I pick it up, load it, and aim it at you, it doesn't affect your life.
In a free society, a central aspect of that freedom is the right to chose what we want, regardless of need, as long as we have the means to acquire said item and we're not attempting to steal it, whatever it is. Whether it is the charm to acquire a partner we like or the money to acquire a new smartphone, be it an Android, iOS, or Windows. When government interferes, through the demands of the public, and attempts to determine what choices we can and cannot make, we have left a free society and entered something else. It starts as democracy and ends in totalitarianism. They're not that far away from each other; mob rule to the mob deciding on a ruler.
Ban my AR or AK and you best start banning Corvette's and Ferarri's, Jimmy Choo shoes and Dolce & Gabana bags, Starbucks and McDonalds, Home Depot and Target. Your choices should only come from government; they know what's best.

"Who needs a 30 round magazine? 10 rounds should be more than enough."
Who came up with 10? Why not 15? Why not 12? Why not 22 1/3? Anyone who's ever been in a situation where they've had to either draw or fire a gun has never uttered the words "I'm sure glad I only have 10 rounds. I don't need more than this."
Why? Beyond the choice item that's already been discussed:
  1. People are sucky shots. In tense situations, studies have been done and shown that even the best soldiers and police officers have about a 50% hit rate. So with a 10 round magazine, they're hitting 5 times. Now that sounds like MORE than enough, but again, studies have shown that someone high on some sort of drug may not feel that unless you shoot them in the head. Good luck at that. If someone who trains regularly (FACT: Most cops don't. They train a little before their qualification tests and that's it. They don't regularly practice. There are certainly some who are gun enthusiasts or departments that train all the time, but the norm is they shoot to qualify and that's it) is going to miss every other shot at best, what are an untrained persons chances? About 20%. So 2 out of 10. Drugs aside, that sounds like enough, right? Until...
  2. Multiple attackers. Everyone imagines the one-on-one in the street showdown at high noon when you say "gun fight". Reality: Break-ins often happen with multiple people. Gangs are prevalent on many streets. I want enough to stop as many people as I have to and if I get to 10 and it goes click, are you going to take care of my family when I'm killed by the rest of the people who are attacking me? Didn't think so.
  3. Market saturation. There are hundreds of millions of large capacity magazines on the market.  A ban can't be retroactive; you'd make millions into overnight criminals. Even if you said "People have a time to turn them in", people will keep them or sell them to someone less than ethical. So a ban will do nothing. PLUS, even if by some stroke of magic, you took them off the civilian market, they are still being made. Rebels, military's, and other sorts around the globe have them. The criminal market WILL get them and the ban will do nothing.
An oldie but goodie that I brought up before: "The Founders never imagined 'assault rifles'!"
Sure they did. To them, the muskets they had in their homes or the militias or armies carried into battle, those were the 'assault rifles' of the day.
The term itself is bullshit. It was made up by anti-gun organizations to sound scary. A rifle is a rifle. Some have black plastic and metal accoutrements, others have wood. All guns are made for 'assault' because that's what you do with a gun. All guns are 'military style' as that was where the need for them arose.
And the Founders were men who knew technology changes. They demanded that the PEOPLE, not the government, have their natural rights of protection defended from the people who would attempt to take them. What people? THE GOVERNMENT.
The fact that an Uzi could be used to keep a criminal or two out of your home is secondary. The right to keep and bear arms, as protected by the Constitution, is so the citizenry can resist the forces of government. It's what the founders did and it's what we were supposed to do. But no one has the stomach for it.
If you insist on this argument then my retort is your freedom of speech or privacy does not apply to your computer, smartphone, television, radio, modern magazine, newspaper, billboard. The government can, without a warrant, search your car, your computer, your phone conversations, as well as search you at an airport, stop you on a train and search you, or while you convey on any manner of transport not conceived during the 18th century. Stupid argument begets stupid response.

The 1934 National Firearms Act, the 1968 Gun Control Act, the "Hughes Amendment", the 1994 "Assault Weapons Ban" and all manner of federal laws and regulations having to do with guns, firearms, et al, are unconstitutional. Period. End of discussion. The Second Amendment is a prohibition against the federal government from enacting any sort of law that attempts to prevent people from keeping or bearing arms. Now, this doesn't mean your state cannot enact laws, if your state constitution allows for it. Most state constitutions have a provision that protects the peoples rights to arms and to protect themselves from the state government. However, if your state constitution so allows, your legislature could enact restrictions on what it chooses to. The U.S. Constitution is not an incorporated document. Meaning; the roles for government and the restrictions contained therein ONLY apply at the federal level. This applies to all provisions and restrictions. Meaning, unless restricted by your state constitution, your natural right to speak or worship freely could be curtailed. As I said, it's unnatural and any state that attempts to restrict it should be held in contempt by its citizens.
Even if you were attempting to argue that the federal constitution IS incorporated then you simply need to turn to the 14th Amendment which guarantees that all citizens of the US are entitled to all rights and privileges of the United States of America and thus the NFA, the GCA, 'Hughes", etc... are once again unconstitutional AS WELL AS all state restrictions on ownership of guns. Either way, your argument is invalid.

I fully expect the Obama administration and many Democrats to try and "do something". The question is: Do the Republicans and Democrats in Congress , who believe in freedom, have the stones to stop them? AND... If Obama doesn't get his way and attempts to do this through regulation (he has no authority to do so, but that hasn't stopped him yet), will those same people hold him in contempt of his office and impeach him? My guess is no and no, but we'll have to wait and see.

UPDATE: I'd like to add another here, brought up by a friend who's a closet progressive. He'll deny it until St. Swivens Day, but he is one.
"All guns should be registered and all sales tracked. Everyone who wants one should be licensed and have to go through proficiency training. Like driving."
What's ironic is he makes this analogy to driving when it comes to guns but when I argue that more people are killed driving than are killed with guns in this country, he retorts that cars weren't built to kill people, guns were. On top of that, he's the first to decry the government stomping on the rights of privacy and speech.
Throughout history, every time all gun sales have been registered and tracked, it's lead to confiscation. Most recently in England and Australia; when the government knows who has guns, they will use those records to confiscate them or jail the people who attempt to resist that confiscation. Now, thanks to forms authorized by the Gun Control Act of '68, all commercial sales of guns HAVE to go through a Federal Firearms License dealer. You can't purchase a gun online from a business. PERIOD. The forms used to record these sales HAVE to be kept for 20 years. The ATF, at ANY time (don't fool yourself into thinking that they can only do it when investigating a crime) can request to see these records. So, from the manufacturer, to a dealer, to the first sale, there's a record of who has it.
Now, for some states, there is no requirement for a record of this to happen for a private sale. A sale between two citizens with no record of transfer. BUT, at least with those guns manufactured after 1968, there is a record of first sale and if I go and sell that gun I just bought to someone unscrupulous, if that gun is used in a crime, it'll come right back to me and I could be held liable for that crime, depending. Sure, the criminal can file off the serial number, but why should they? They're committing a crime as it is; they really don't give a shit what happens to me.
As for proficiency training: Do you need training for free speech? Do you have to show proficiency to create a life? Wouldn't that be a hoot: "Folks, I'm sorry. According to federal form 11391.23, you are not engaging in procreation appropriately and we'll have to deny you your license to spawn. You need to seek additional training from a licensed facility before you can lawfully engage in unprotected coitus."
I don't have a problem with background checks. Yes, there is a "slippery slope" argument that can be made here, but I think if you've been convicted of a felony, you have lost some natural rights through due process. Now I think we need to fix a fuckload of laws in this country so that someone whose sole crime is getting themselves high or helping others get high ISN'T considered a felony, but that's for another time. If you've been reported for 'domestic abuse': sorry, but you weren't convicted of a crime so to deny someone a right because they were accused of something is completely unjust. I understand it, I really do, but then convict the abusive motherfucker and cut his nuts off. But if you've only been accused, then the burden of proof is not on the state and to deny you your rights is bullshit.
On proficiency itself - Ugh... I can see it. There's some logic to it. BUT, to what end? Over half of the gun deaths in this country are suicides. No issue with proficiency there, eh? Sorry, that was uncalled for. But, in a serious note, there's roughly 600 fatal gun accidents a year. It's rough because people can't pinpoint whether some are accidents or murders. These are tragedies, but to force millions of others to conform to a proficiency standard when the problem is with about 600 people... really? I mean... really?

As I said earlier on here: Gun laws are state matters, if their state constitution allows for it. If your state wants to be restrictive, find another state or embrace it, depending on which way you sway. If they're very permissive, enjoy it or find another state. Problem solved.

Is that a gun in your pocket...

...or are you happy to see me.
Yeah, silly, but I need something like that to help change my mood. I'm pissed, depressed, aggravated, frustrated, and all manner of flummoxed by the massive level of stupidity that has taken hold, especially around guns.

In general, the brain power of the American society has fallen by leaps and bounds. I blame this on my biggest pet peeve; the lack of responsibility that has taken place. We don't hold others responsible for their actions or hold ourselves responsible for what we do. Someone or something else is always to blame. Drunk driver kills someone; the bartender over-served them. A young man joins a street gang; he's from a poor neighborhood. A child is obese; fast food makers are the problem. A young man shoots up a crowd of people; we need to ban guns. Our children are stupid; more money is needed for schools. The true problems in these cases: The drunk who gets in the car, the young man who took the "easy" way out, the parents who don't control what their child eats, the young man himself, and once again, the parents who don't truly care for their offspring.

The progressive mindset (I try to avoid the term 'liberal' because these people have no idea what liberty means) wants to stay in college forever. They want to have a place to live at their level of comfort, to be able to 'party' as they please, to attempt to show others how intellectual they are by protesting, marching, and shouting down those they don't like, but again, to not be responsible for the backlash that is prone to come, and to have no true responsibility in any of it. They want it provided to them.
They are not responsible to produce anything, other than a semi-positive grade on a piece of paper, which the way many schools are now, you can do that by showing up. They want to be cared for, but not have to answer to anyone for it. They want to be protected from violence, but applaud when violence is perpetrated against "those who deserve it." It's because of this mindset that I can see why they're so opposed to private citizens owning guns and being responsible for their own safety.

The modern progressive (and so many others) wanders around the Earth without a care. They drive their cars mindlessly, talking on the phone, texting, doing their hair, reading, shaving, talking with friends, or anything that takes them away from the fact that they're wielding a 1-2 ton vehicle capable of inflicting death or carnage upon anyone in their path. They 'play' with drugs, prescription and non, because "It makes me feel creative/able to cope/motivated/happy/etc..." yet these can kill in minutes. Sex has long since past its purpose to them, that being reproduction, and it's simply a way to feel good, or empowered, or a way to express their feelings, or just something to do, yet to deal with the outcome, whether it being pregnancy or a disease, is beneath them. Someone else needs to deal with these problems; not them.
So when faced with something whose sole purpose was to actually kill, they panic. They call those of us who own or wield such things "Nuts! Idiots! Pathetic! Terrorists!" Because we're willing to take responsibility for our own safety or the safety of our families, we're "Less of a man".
Slight aside, but that one always amuses me. I'm somehow less of a man because I bring a gun to a fistfight. Ask any real fighter; not someone who thinks they're a tough guy, but someone who has gotten into many fights time after time and they will use whatever means at their disposal to either get out of or win that fight. Glasses, chairs, tables, pipes, bricks, bats, knives, or even guns. If it stops the fight before it even begins, letting both people walk away or at least I get to walk away, I'll bring a nuclear weapon to a fist fight. "Fair fights" are for a ring or when two people want to see who has the bigger balls and if you're comparing balls, that's kinda gay.
Gun owners know they're dealing with something that can kill. That's the purpose of it. And the overwhelming majority do their best to treat their gun(s) with the respect and fear that they deserve.

Now without fail, someone would invariably argue about "rednecks" (the term only became derogatory a couple decades ago. Before then, it meant someone who worked outside for a living and always found a way to solve a problem, even if it was with duct tape, a garden hose, a pillow case full of goose feathers and bacon grease) who get drunk and play 'William Tell' with shotguns and these are gun owners who aren't responsible. Fair enough. In response, I give you National Socialists, aka Nazi's. They believe in the same socialist ideals as their progressive brethren, but they throw in a whole heaping of racism. All groups have their fringe elements. If you blame the whole for the fringe then we might as well truly end it all because as a species, we're no longer worthwhile keeping around.

A tragedy in CT, in many ways

Wow... let this blog lapse, didn't I?
I had great intentions when I created the page, but I got distracted... SQUIRREL... as well as semi-depressed, so I let it hang out there. But after this weekend, I have to express what's in my head. Some may say it's tasteless to bring this up so soon, but when is it right? Next week, next month, 6 months? The horror of it really never dies; the pain just fades and is different for each person.

GUN CONTROL, GUN, CONTROL, GUN CONTROL... From the "left", this is all you're hearing. To use a quote from someone else, "MSNBC didn't even wait for the bodies to get cold before rushing to the gun control argument." Distasteful, but true. Starting at the horror and going back through the events that have been brought to light, where would "reasonable gun control" have stopped things.
Murder is illegal, is it not? Yet he murdered people. No law helped there. He broke through the security the school has; criminal trespass, no law helped there. He brought guns onto school property, a "gun free zone". No law helped there. It appears he stole the guns from his mother, who it looks like he killed, because he could not purchase them because he wouldn't submit to a background check. 'AH HA... if his mother didn't have guns, he couldn't have killed her and stolen them!' His mother was an avid target shooter. Based on all the 'guidelines' you hear from the gun control crowd, she would have been licensed, could have passed tests for proficiency, would have and did wait to purchase them, so what would have stopped him from killing her and stealing them. 'A SAFE! Like in California!' Oh, so this psychopath wouldn't have waited for her to remove them to go target shooting? Or tortured her to give up the combination? Or, being he was such a lunatic, maybe he kills a cop. The modern 'law enforcement officer' has no only the pistol on their hip, but usually a shotgun and more often nowadays, a rifle in their car. "So, he's just gonna kill a cop, huh?!" I hear someone saying in disgust, doubting it could happen. Why not? Are cops immortal beings?

"If there were no guns, those kids would still be alive!!!!".
Oh, so he wouldn't have poured gasoline into gallon jugs, stuffed rags in the hole, broken into the school, lit them and thrown them into the classrooms? Or, using directions readily available on the internet, he wouldn't have made multiple pipebombs from household items, broke into the school, gone room to room, lighting them and throwing them in? You're blaming an inanimate object for the actions of a psychotic. It would be like blaming the alcohol for a drunk driver who plows into a family of four and kills them. Or something less violent: the pen for a failed exam. The fork and spoon for the obese person. It is the actions of the individual that caused this and no level of law or regulation could have stopped it.

"Handguns and assault rifles should be banned! Only the police should have them!"
A) See the above point and B) So only the government should have the means to execute force? Seems logical???
Since time immemorial, governments have wished to control the populace. They have the power, we are their subjects. This country was formed on the premise that the people, not the government, are the rulers and that government can only take action by the will of the people. To control that government, a constitution was implemented that dictated what that government (starting at the federal level, then each state was to establish their own) could and, more importantly, could NOT do. Now, if left to its own devices, that government, like all before it, would seek to establish greater power. However, our Founders put in a clause; an amendment. Number 2. By maintaining the right to arm itself, the people could make sure the government could not run roughshod over the public. That is what the 2nd Amendment is for.

"It was there for hunting and self-defense, you terrorist!" or the popular "It was for a militia!"
Hunting and self-defense? If, as dictated by the Declaration of Independence, our rights are given to us by our Creator, why would they need to clarify the right to provide ones self food or the means to protect themselves from harm? These are natural. If they weren't, then you would have no right to eat and I could come over to your house and beat you unconditionally.
As for the militia: What was a militia? Government schools have done their best to hide history, but in its purest form, the militia were average citizens, ready to defend themselves and their neighbors whenever the time called for it.
Defend them from whom? Oppressors.
What oppressors? What do you got?
If you can find the actual history of it, these were men who rose up against an oppressive government, THEIR OWN. A government that wished to tax them into submission. That wished to dictate how and where these people could do business. That suppressed the right to speak out against it. That demanded that the people could not maintain the means to resist it; taking away their guns. That was a militia.

"The founders couldn't have known about machine guns! It was for when they had muskets!"
The logical retort is the sections above, but to answer it on its face:
A) These were men who had known of history. Of scientific achievement. They witnessed the first manned balloon flights. They'd known the advancements of armament through time. Sure, they couldn't "foresee" the machine gun, per say, but to think they didn't know that guns would advance is ludicrous.
B) Then destroy your computer. Burn all ball point pens and modern paper. Quill and parchment for all! Destroy the modern printing press and return to engraved plates! Throw away that bullhorn and PA system! Your freedoms of speech and press only apply to the instruments of the founding, no more!  See how asinine the "muskets" argument is? If the right to bear arms isn't appropriate in the modern era, none are. Submit. Obey. Be a servant and shut your mouth.

The Left stomps and cries that you can't legislate morality. And you can't. But you also can't legislate sociopaths. Restricting access to guns for those who adhere to the law would have and will do NOTHING. Look around the country and the cities with the highest gun crime rates all have the strictest gun laws. Britain, Norway, Germany; all these countries have incredibly restrictive gun laws yet gun crime still happens and is growing.

More gun control wouldn't have stopped the massacre. But a school administrator or a teacher with a 9mm pistol could have.
